SENSING STUFF: As noted in my own permissions post, Asch is more Darkness than Light (most of his darkness is anger). Magically speaking he reads as "really hecking powerful" due to the fact that he's sort of the human incarnation of a sound/memory not!god.
DARKNESS MANIPULATION: go for it, though it probably wouldn't have much effect. Asch's darkness is already pretty much riding on the surface level of his personality; it's his light that's buried.
